What Sorcerer is built to decide

Official materials describe Sorcerer as capable at distance and close range, with defensive and crowd-control options. That range flexibility makes spacing decisions more important than a simple backline label.

Sorcerer is most useful when ranged damage, close pressure and crowd control contributes to the extraction objective. Ask how each action creates space, information, protection or a clean finish. A Sorcerer exchange that separates the squad or blocks the retreat is still a poor trade.

First-run practice priorities

Practice choosing one distance for the current objective. At range, preserve sightlines and deny easy approaches. Up close, know which action creates enough space to reset. Switch because the field changed, not because every available spell should be used.

Use a low-complexity Sorcerer run to identify one opener, one defensive response and one disengagement tool. Keep those Sorcerer actions stable while learning the map, then add talent and gem complexity after the basic exchange makes sense.

Squad fit and communication

Tell allies which condition lets Sorcerer commit safely. Name the target, direction and intended duration of pressure. The squad should know whether Sorcerer is holding, collapsing or leaving before the animation begins.

Sorcerer needs a complementary answer from the squad. Sorcerer's pressure needs follow-up, its range needs protected sightlines, its mobility needs a route back and its support needs teammates who act inside the protected window.

Weaknesses to test honestly

Pressure that breaks sightlines or forces rushed casting can remove the class advantage. Track cover before committing to an exposed channel and avoid separating so far from the squad that control cannot be converted into shared pressure.

Review Sorcerer losses as decisions rather than class verdicts. Check position, timing, information, resource use and the class tool itself. This creates evidence that remains useful when balance numbers change.
