Withered Knight is most useful when heavy Greatsword pressure or Polearm and Shield defense contributes to the extraction objective. Ask how each action creates space, information, protection or a clean finish. A Withered Knight exchange that separates the squad or blocks the retreat is still a poor trade.
First-run practice priorities
Choose the stance package that matches the squad objective. Quick Shield Bash supports aggressive disruption. Enhanced Shield Bash is framed around team defense and area knockback. Greatsword pressure asks for a different commitment rhythm.
Use a low-complexity Withered Knight run to identify one opener, one defensive response and one disengagement tool. Keep those Withered Knight actions stable while learning the map, then add talent and gem complexity after the basic exchange makes sense.
Squad fit and communication
Tell allies which condition lets Withered Knight commit safely. Name the target, direction and intended duration of pressure. The squad should know whether Withered Knight is holding, collapsing or leaving before the animation begins.
